POETRY - Wings

You are standing at the edge of a cliff,

And you see your whole life down there in the valley,

your life as it has been. Through all the trials and pain,

you have grown wings, and you realize that the pain

which almost killed you, was just your wings growing strong,

your bright, strong wings that will carry you into the rest of your life.

You spread your new wings, and your feathers catch the wind.

You feel safe at last. You realize these wings are your reward,

your gift for not giving up, for hanging in, for trusting Love.

You take a deep, grateful breath. You step forward. And you fly.
