Lanna with Project Jason's Ronnie Rhode and Kellyj Shepherd

Charlanna Beresford’s weekly round-up of upcoming SL events…

Across the globe, thousands of people go missing every day. There are a pair of open houses this week that demonstrate what Second Life can do to help those with missing loved ones in their first lives.

On Friday, June 27 at 4:30 PM, Project Jason is holding an open house to mark the opening of their office in Second Life. Project Jason was founded by Kellyj Shepherd (Kelly Jolkowski in RL) following the mysterious disappearance of her 19 year old Jason Jolkowski from the family’s driveway on June 13, 2001. In the aftermath of this tragic event, she and her husband found that there are few resources for families of missing adults and they developed Project Jason so that no family would be left alone and without resources in a heartbreaking situation where time is so critical. Project Jason’s Second Life plans include educational presentations, law enforcement training, and family support meetings.  The open house is an opportunity to learn more about Project Jason’s efforts in both worlds and to meet Kellyj Shepherd. In Aloft Nonprofit Commons (click here to teleport).

On Wednesday, July 2 at 6:00 PM, there will be an open house at the Garden for the Missing. The Garden for the Missing contains over 170 posters of missing persons from the US.  All of the missing persons posters are clickable so that you can read more about their disappearances;  bring your friends and stop by and to read the stories of the missing and help raise awareness for these souls. In Remora (click here to teleport).

There will be a special edition of Lanna’s List on the afternoon Friday, June 27 highlighting events that celebrate Second Life’s fifth birthday.

HAIKU! Something inspiring is happening - come play!

Posted on Jun 26th, 2008 by Happiness : Artist in Residence Happiness
Happy_camper_-_2

We have a new theme over at HAIKU!

It is all about spiritual and actual survival in hard times..when 'less' can be 'more'!

Come, share, inspire, write with us!

I just sent this note to our HAIKU community, and please come read the responses...they are marvelous, and will brighten your day

*****************************************************************************************************

Wonderful Haikuers!

What an astonishing community this is!  Your creativity, ingenuity and playfulness continue to both amaze and delight.

And a sweet welcome from all of us to our many new members…so happy you have joined us!

I
keep writing Wil effusive fan letters about the big waves of haiku that
he started with the Never Ending Haiku…and then it ocurred to me that
there is a subject on all of our minds these days which might make a
challenging but also most useful theme for Yet Another NEH:

How to Survive in Hard Times - When Less Can Be More

(Please see that brand new board I just posted, and jump in!)

Every day oil prices go up (it is the speculators, BTW). Food prices skyrocket. Same for travel. Shipping. Utilities.

There is talk of a long, drawn out recession.

So what's a poet to do?

Write Haiku !!!

This
new NEH is for you to share ways you are finding to save money, and yet
at the same time improve your quality of life.  Are you finding ways to
cut your daily costs which in fact are leading to healthy changes?  Haiku about it!

Here
is my first off the top brainstorm on this subject, which I sent to
Will awhile ago and asked if he thought it was worth playing with.
Will said he liked it, so here we go!

Blessings to all you brilliant, talented friends!

May you find new energy, creativity and quality of life in these “economically challenged” times of ours.

CONSCIOUS MEDIA: Film - David Sereda's THE VOICE (Trailer)

Posted on Jun 23rd, 2008 by Happiness : Artist in Residence Happiness

Watch the Trailer for The Voice at the link below...

NEW FILM! distributed by What the BLEEP Do We Know!?Filmmaker Betsy Chasse.

Researcher, mystic, scientist, and filmmaker, David Sereda takes you on a journey of exploration in human consciousness. During the film he shares with you his own fascinating and compelling mystical experiences and compares and contrasts these with others from all walks of life - scientists, mystics, and artists, as well as ordinary individuals who have touched the Divine. David will guide you on a thought-provoking journey that will help you clarify your own path.

THE VOICE is a compilation of interviews with experts in their respective fields of science, mysticism, and art. It presents a diversity of viewpoints on spirituality and various aspects of human consciousness. While we originally intended that this movie ANSWER many of the questions about human consciousness, we have instead been guided to create a controversial film which will stir discussion, help the spiritual seeker understand various facets inherent in the spiritual path as experienced by individuals from many walks of life, and help each viewer find THE VOICE of consciousness within themselves. The expert opinions provided are meant to assist you in finding the truth within you. Only in seeking this unity in the diversity of opinion, fact, research, and expression will humanity ever evolve beyond war, manipulation, control, and domination. We hope this film inspires discussion, debate, and eventually recognition of our common ground.

The film helps us answer questions that human beings face: What is consciousness? How does consciousness affect our reality and how do our thoughts become things? What is mind over matter and how does this occur?

The science of consciousness provides us with tangible methodology of how to reach enlightenment!

THE VOICE helps every viewer find their VOICE and the VOICE of God within them. The evolution in consciousness that we all seek is to share perspectives and find the unity within the diversity. That unity comes from opening the mind and heart to see that every soul upon this planet is seeking truth - the truth of God as it is expressed through them. There is not, and never has been one single idea of truth that, if embraced, will provide enlightenment. Instead, God inspires each and every soul to follow a truth that is theirs and theirs alone and if they do so, they will find the enlightenment that God intended for them. Meditation is one path but not the only path. Religion is one path but not the only path. Solitude allows some to find God while others seek the kaleidoscope of His wonder among the throngs of humanity. Some find God in the peaceful solace in a country existence, while others find Him in the bustle and diversity of modern city life... for God is all of this and so much more.

“Those who come as skeptics and leave as skeptics, might then have a more clear understanding of who they really are."
