When It's RL Winter, Do You Want To Play In SL Snow?

Wintermute_001In recent weeks Winter chills hit the real world hard (at least on the Northern end of the globe.)  Around this time, many people vacation in warmer locales, to escape the cold.  On television, it's a truism that programs featuring the tropics and sunlight become more popular during the winter.

I thought of all this while reading Chestnut Rau's lovely travelogue through Wintermute, a beautifully realized snowy wonderland.  I keep hearing about its popularity-- indeed, it's currently the top-rated SL site on Koinup.  I think it's fair to say this is typical for Second Life: when real world winter comes, it's not virtual beaches and deserts that become popular, but winter-themed regions which do.  This is totally paradoxical to me, but maybe that's because I'm from Hawaii.  Even looking at Ms. Rau's screenshots gives me the chills.  So I ask my virtual snow-loving readers: isn't the weather outside frightful?
